Following a two-year, pandemic-induced pause, The Moinian Group has resumed work on a new office complex in West Chelsea, reports Commercial Observer.
The project, named the Hudson Arts Building, spans a block-long site between West 25th and 26th Streets along 11th Avenue. Plans call for a 10-story edifice which will features 200,000 square feet of offices, as well as ground-floor commercial space and a rooftop deck.
Designed by STUDIOS Architecture, the Hudson Arts Building will feature floor-to-ceiling windows on its exterior and floor heights ranging between 14 and 17 feet. Sloping lobby walls and a curved gold entryway reflect engineering challenges resulting from a ventilation system for the 7 train which sits below the property.
According to Commercial Observer, construction of the building is on pace to occur by 2024, after which point asking rents could range from $150 to $200 per square foot.
Moinian's current plans for the site have shifted since 2016, when the family-owned firm had proposed a 40-unit condo building designed by the late architect Zaha Hadid. The company has controlled the project site for more than two decades.
