A dominate tower begins to emerge at what will eventually become the next generation of Twin Towers in New York City, this time in Brooklyn. The superstructure is just over 25% complete on the north tower, with the south tower trailing slightly behind.
280 Kent is the final component of a massive five-part masterplan and reimagining of the former Domino Sugar Refinery, by Two Trees Management. The design team is lead by REX, and notable elements of the design include a podium wrapped in undulating floor to ceiling glass curtain wall, and balconies with oculus penetrations.
Once completed, the pair of towers will stretch approximately 600' high and provide 1,262 residential units with 12,230 SF of commercial space within the 50-story structures. The project site last housed a 2-story marine distribution building for the former sugar refinery; that structure was demolished over a decade ago in 2014.
Project completion is expected sometime in 2028, almost 15 years after the redevelopment of the Williamsburg waterfront at the Domino plant began.
