An unrelated pair of low-rise residential buildings are underway in a sleepier section of Williamsburg. The two structures are going up simultaneously across from each other on N. 8th Street near Roebling.
The larger of the two, a 24-unit mixed-use residential project at 213 N. 8th Street is still in the ground during excavation phase. Records pulled from Department of Buildings indicate the 77-foot-tall tall structure will max out the allowable zoning envelope and dedicate much of the ground floor to 6,340 square feet of commercial space. The applicant is listed as HPL Engineering, with build-out by H&Z Builders.

Across the street at 222 N. 8th Street, steel is being delivered in advance of structural framing where a six-story, four-unit development is replacing a vacant lot. The 72' tall development is tied to SGMC Carmichael with design by OPerA Studio Architecture. Notable elements of the design include two duplexes, on the first and fourth floors; and a tile-clad curtain wall with balconies and terraces made by the negative space of the irregular shaped curtain wall.
