The superstructure has topped out and preparation for facade work seems to be underway at 44 W. 8th Street where an approximately 30,000 square-foot, six-story mixed-use residential building replaces a single-story retail building in the heart of Greenwich Village.

INWORKSHOP designed the building, and First Standard Construction is managing construction.

According to the architect's website: "This new ground-up building is designed to harmonize with its neighbors, bridging the gap between the 19th-century tenement on its right and the contemporary structure under construction on its left. Drawing inspiration from the ornate brickwork characteristic of its historic district, the façade pays homage to a bygone era of craftsmanship and detail."

The project sits directly adjacent to 181 MacDougal, a similarly contextual mixed-use building which was recently completed.

Construction signage indicates a target completion of December 2026.
