Finishing Touches on Mirror Twin 12-Story Condos Buildings Near Hudson Yards

A pair of 12-story condominiums appears to be at the one-yard line, where ZD Jasper is working to wrap up their first of three projects flanking the Lincoln Tunnel underpass on the border of Hell's Kitchen and Hudson Yards.

499 9th Avenue (aka Vita) is comprised of 121 for-sale units in Yin-Yang style, mirrored buildings along 9th Ave, bisected by a five-story tenement building, similar to what these buildings have since replaced. 

Archimaera is the design architect, and their UHPC-clad, 154-foot-tall project is a series of black and white fluted structures, with rounded edges throughout. A tasteful addition to this part of town, not particularly well-known for its contemporary building stock. 

Warner Construction Services is listed as the General Contractor, with leadership ties to ZD Jasper. The building is built to Passive House standards, following modern design trends to cut back on energy usage and limit the environmental impact.

The current western elevations are notable for their less than stellar view over the network of Lincoln Tunnel underpasses; however the City of New York is currently renovating the entire area around Port Authority Bus Terminal, which includes decking over these sections of roadway to create a landscaped plaza. The plaza will eventually connect Vita to ZD Jaspers other projects on the western side of the block. 

Vita replaces a series of Tenement buildings, would-be relics of a neighborhood drastically altered, and a long vacant lot.  Douglas Elliman - EKLUND | GOMES is handling the marketing, where approximately 20 of the units are already sold, or are in contract. Current listings include a one-bedroom unit for $1.3-million and the three-bedroom penthouse for $5.5 million.
