Crown Takes Shape on 64-Story Residential Near WTC

The architectural crown at one of the Financial Districts latest ground-up residential developments is now taking shape at 8 Carlisle (aka 111 Washington), where construction crews are deck-forming the 62nd of 64 stories, and curtain wall installation is following closely behind. 

Developed by Grubb Properties as an extension of their "Link" network of apartments, mostly concentrated in the southeast region of the US, the 462 unit project will be comprised of 326,000 SF of residential area, 7,000 SF of retail on the ground floors, with building amenities and terrace contained in a 4-story podium.  

Handel Architects is the architect of record with a palatable, 8-bit inspired design featuring cubic reliefs at both the base and crown of the tower. The mostly-rectilinear grid of windows are divided by faux-beam cladding in a Miesian fashion.  

Consigli Construction is the General Contractor on this 790' tall structure. The signage on-site hints at completion in the Summer of 2026, no alternative timeline has been provided; however it seems unlikely to reach substantial completion until the spring of 2027. 8 Carlisle replaces a 6-story parking garage.
