Following its successful pickleball installations in Central Park's Wollman Rink, Hudson Yards, Union Square, and other high-volume locations, CityPickle has debuted its first permanent, year-round location in Long Island City. The 10,100-square-foot facility is the brand’s first brick-and-mortar location and features a restaurant, bar, and retail shop.
CityPickle’s co-founders, Mary Cannon and Erica Desai, leased the permanent location at The Woodworks at 9-03 44th Road., a newly developed red-brick building between Ninth and Tenth streets near Vernon Boulevard in Queens.
“It’s a milestone moment to open CityPickle’s first permanent pickleball club in the heart of Long Island City, and we can’t think of a more perfect combination than dinking on the courts with margaritas and delicious food to enjoy,” said Mary Cannon and Erica Desai. “We’ve experienced increased demand for pickleball across the City and look forward to continuing to spread the joy and community of the sport. This is just the first of many locations.”
The facility boasts four courts, 21-foot-high ceilings, cocktails such as the spicy grapefruit mezcalita or frozen gin & tonic and hibiscus margarita; and various food items. CityPickle is open seven days a week. Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday to Saturday. The company is also planning to open a seven court activation at Brooklyn's Industry City on September 16.
