“We can't wait to hear the music from this one......... once this project is done, it will sure make a loud statement!” write the architects of a new apartment building currently on the rise at 334 Evergreen Avenue in Bushwick.
While some developers use free storage and in-unit washer/dryers to lure prospective tenants, the team behind this development is arguably taking a more conventional approach, using signage to market their building.
New renderings spotted by iAffordNY (an HPD and NYCHA affiliate that specializes in affordable housing listings) reveal a five-story residential building adorned top to bottom with a gigantic keyboard.
The musical stylings are also carried onto the interior, where another massive keyboard can be found in the lobby and cassette tape wallpaper adorns the laundry room. Even apartments have a bit of flair, with cabinets positioned to suggest musical bars.
According to Brownstoner, which first reported the news, permits for the building were obtained last year. Documents note the construction of eight apartments, three of which will be made affordable.
Shawn E. Stiles of S&S Architectural Design is the applicant of record, while Joel Friedman is listed as the owner on city documents. The site was purchased by "334 Evergreen LLC" in 2018 for $999,000.
The building replaces a two-story, wood-framed home.
