As one of his final acts in office, former Mayor Bill de Blasio announced last week $75 million in funding for the development of the CitiStorage parcel of Bushwick Inlet Park in Brooklyn.

“Bushwick Inlet Park shows how much can change when a community stands together,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “This $75 million investment will ensure 27 acres of world-class green space on the North Brooklyn waterfront are completed for families to enjoy for generations to come.”

The new money, coupled with $17 million in existing funding and $1 million allocated by the City Council, amounts to more than $90 million to cover the demolition of the former CitiStorage warehouse, followed by the design and construction of the next components of the multi-phase park.

The property is one of six parcels that comprise Bushwick Inlet Park - roughly 3.5 acres of which are already complete and open to the public. The next section of the park slated to open on the Greenpoint-Williamsburg Waterfront, 50 Kent, is scheduled to make its debut later this year. The full project will account for roughly 25 acres of green space.
