Slate Property Group, RiseBoro Community Partnership, and Goldman Sachs have announced the completion of a new affordable housing complex in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
Located at 326 Rockaway Avenue, the 14-story building includes 216 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, as well as 4,246 square feet of community space and 1,618 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
The $146-million development is split between 130 homes for formerly homeless young adults, as well as 85 general affordable apartments reserved for families earning between 50 and 60 percent of the area median income level. Rents range from $1,095 to $2,301 per month.
Aufgang Architects designed the project, which is built to passive house standards. Common amenities include a children's playroom, a yoga room, a rooftop deck, and a courtyard.
Additionally, the exterior of the building is adorned by "Brownsville, King of Live," a 150-foot mural from ArtBridge and Brooklyn-based artist Victor “Marka27” Quiñonez. The piece is billed as the largest outdoor mural in Brooklyn.
Other members of the project team include general contractor SD Builders and Construction, LLC, landscape architects Office of Strategy+Design, and consulting firm Bright Power.
