A low-rise industrial site in Brooklyn could birth a mixed-use high-rise building.
YIMBY reports that Y&T Development, LLC is seeking zoning amendments for the construction of a new 17-story building at 888 Atlantic Avenue in Prospect Heights. The proposed 211,000-square-foot building would feature 228 homes - including 69 afforda1e units - accompanied by 4,660 square feet of ground-floor retail, 5,500 square feet of medical offices, and subterranean parking for 40 vehicles.
Archimæra is designing 888 Atlantic, which would incorporate with multiple setbacks to create terrace decks on its upper floors. Plans call for an exterior of concrete.
If approved, YIMBY reports that demolition and construction is expected to take just over 22 months. Completion of the high-rise is anticipated in 2024.
The proposed rezoning could also be extended to neighboring properties at 864-868 and 858 Atlantic Avenue, which would also be redeveloped with mixed-use buildings. Construction on those sites is expected to occur over a three-year period, concluding in 2025.
