Haussmann Development and Coltown Properties have teamed up to build a new residential development on the same block as the Lionel Hampton Houses in Harlem, reports Patch.
The proposed project, slated to replace a two-story commercial building at 2437 Frederick Douglas Boulevard, would consist of a 13-story tower containing a total of 130 apartments. According to Patch, existing occupants on the site include a nail salon, a dry cleaners, and a Malian community organization.
The report states that demolition of the existing building is expected to be completed by early Spring, with construction to begin in the summer. Completion of the new development would be completed within 18 months.
Plans included with the report depict a contemporary mid-rise building.
As the project was registered with the state's now-expired 421a program, at least one-fourth of the apartments are intended to be reserved for rent at below market-rates.
