Installation of facade masonry has reached the penthouse levels at 175 E. 82nd Street, where 73 luxury condominiums are now rising in the form of a 35-story high-rise development on the Upper East Side.
The 492-foot-tall project is being developed by Douglaston Development and built by its construction counterpart, Levine Builders with design from CetraRuddy. The dizzying variation in the Roman brick stands out as a confusing choice in an otherwise agreeable design; the ornamental brick at the spandrels and edges are appreciated, if not blurred by the digital desert camouflage that makes up the field of the facade.

The 244,000-square-foot building includes eight parking spaces, 3,200 square feet of retail, residential amenities including pool, terrace and theater on floors 20 through 22, and an average unit size of 2,600 square feet.
Presale efforts have begun with Young New Development | Brown Harris Stevens, tracking to the expected completion date in the Fall of 2027.
175 E. 82nd, replaces a seven-story, unremarkable brick building with approximately 40 units. A twin of the now demolished property still exists directly adjacent to the north elevation for the nostalgic New Yorkers.
