A 12-story story mixed-use residential building is nearing the finish line at 125 Chrystie Street on the Lower East Side. The project replaces a two-story commercial warehouse and prominent mural by Buff Monster.
Designed by Fischer Makooi Architects and developed by Horizon Group, the 56,000-square-foot building includes 55 homes ( including 11 affordable units) and according to the developer's website promises a "truly inclusive and dynamic lifestyle".
On the design, FMA merges two styles on the east facade, a copper-colored faceted cladding in the front and a more industrial gridded steel and glass in the back.
The building rises on the western edge of Sara Roosevelt Park and sits squarely between J/Z station at Delancey and the B/D station on Grand.
Completion is expected this summer.
