At a ceremony on October 8, Project Renewal cut the ribbon for Bedford Green House II, a new supportive housing development in the Bronx's Bedford Park section.

The $72-million project, located at 2880 Jerome Avenue, consists of a 17-story, 85,000-square-foot building featuring 116 apartments for formerly homeless persons impacted by mental illness and substance use disorders, as well as general affordable housing. Almost half of the apartments are reserved for older adults.

“With the opening of Bedford Green House II, we are proud to meet our city’s urgent need for affordable housing while creating a vibrant community where residents can access comprehensive medical care, occupational therapy, and the healing power of green space," said Project Renewal president Eric Rosenbaum in a statement. A stable and affordable home is the foundation for health, dignity, and opportunity. We are proud to work with our public and private partners to ensure all New Yorkers have access to this basic need."

In addition to housing, the building includes a 2,400-square-foot medical clinic, a library and learning center, and other recreation spaces.

As the name would imply, Bedford Green House Ii is the second phase of a two-building development in Bedford Park, following the 13-story, 117-unit Bedford Green House I.

Other members of the project team include ESKW Architects, structural engineering firm Rosenwasser/Grossman Consulting Engineers, MEP engineering by Allen Rosenthal, geotechnical engineering by Mueser Rutledge, landscape design by Star Whitehouse, and LEED design by Steven Winter Associates.
