Two Trees Management recently celebrated the debut of The Refinery at Domino, a 19th-century landmarked manufacturing building that has been transformed into a 15-story, 460,000-square-foot office space. The building sits at the center of the 11-acre Domino Sugar Factory site and is expected to welcome food and beverage shops to the ground floor in the months ahead.
Designed by Practice for Architecture and Urbanism, the Class A office building is the second commercial building at Domino and features floor-to-ceiling windows, a triple-height atrium lobby with full-service concierge and security; a 27,000-square-foot glass dome penthouse with panoramic views, and 60,000 square feet of retail space. Tenants can also utilize a dedicated bicycle lobby with a separate entrance, ramp and secure bike parking. The Refinery’s interiors were helmed by Bonetti/Kozerski and Executive Architect is dencityworks.

Constructed in 1884, the Domino Sugar Refinery was once the largest sugar manufacturing producer in the world. The Refinery is now one of the city’s most sustainable office buildings, with the former gas-burning plant now powered by a mechanical system that utilizes efficient, all-electric equipment. The building is also part of a private water reuse system located on the Domino campus and all of the wastewater generated by The Refinery is treated and reused onsite.
The award-winning Domino Sugar Factory site is an 11-acre, mixed-use development just north of the Williamsburg Bridge. Adjacent to The Refinery is the one-acre Domino Square, an outdoor events and programming venue that completes the six-acre Domino Park. Two Trees will ultimately build 2,800 apartments across four residential buildings, 700 of which will be affordable to low-income residents, 600,000 square feet of commercial office space, and 200,000 square feet of retail at the Domino site.
