Plans to redevelop the former Newark Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium campus into an 11-acre mixed-use complex has received the blessing of the Newark Planning Board, reports YIMBY.
CitiSquare Newark, which comes from Accurate Builders & Developers, will redevelop the 10.5-acre site with 11 different buildings featuring a combined total of 4,200 residential units and 100,000 square feet of offices, retail, and hotel uses. Plans also call for 3,000 parking spaces.
The initial phase of the project, designed by Ian Bader Architects, will be composed of two 18-story buildings along the Passaic Riverfront featuring a combined total of 598 apartments. A single-story structure connecting the towers will feature retail and restaurant space, as well as residential amenities.
A timeline for the project has not been announced.
