Brooklyn-based real estate developer Totem Group is seeking approvals to rezone a four-block area surrounding the Broadway Junction subway stop in order to build a series of a mixed-use towers, reports City Limits.
The proposed project, submitted to the Planning Department in October, would include two commercial buildings and 664 residential units on properties now developed with industrial structures and vehicle storage lots. Plans also call for a new park.
Totem Group's development is split into three components, including:
- an 18-story, 416-unit senior housing facility that would rise next to a church and hotel at Herkimer Street and Van Sinderen Avenue;
- a trio of towers - rising up to 24 stories/455 feet in height - between Fulton Street, East New York Avenue, and Williams Place featuring 248 residential units, 850,000 square feet of offices; and
- the proposed park.
City Limits reports that Totem is still at least one year away from submitting a formal application for the proposed development, called the Herkimer-Williams project.
