Construction is complete for the initial phase of Ebenezer Plaza, bringing hundreds of units of new affordable housing to Brownsville.
The first components of the project, reports Brooklyn Paper, are located on two lots at 672 Powell Street and 96 New Lots Avenue. Combined, the two sites account for 315 apartments.
The Ebenezer Plaza are earmarked for households earning at or below 60 and 80 percent of the area median income, with rents ranging from $367 to $1,472 per month at the Powell Street property and from $362 to $2,037 per month at New Lots.
The development site was assembled by the Church of God in East Flatbush, which later sold the land to an entity controlled by Brisa Builders Corporation, Procida Companies, and Evergreen City, LLC, which carried out the project as a joint venture.
Designed by Perkins Eastman, Ebenezer Plaza will also include 7,500 square feet of commercial space, a new 40,000-square-foot home for the Church of God, and an additional 200 below market-rate apartments which are now under construction.
